Clean Up Your System Tray

Do you have more than a dozen icons sitting in your system tray?  That's the little area where your clock resides in the lower right hand corner of the screen, and each of those icons a different program that loads during startup.  And may drain system resources such as memory that you need for multi-tasking and prevent system errors from resources being to low.  (Out of Memory Error) or (System Resources are low close some running programs and try running program again).

If you want to get rid of a few of them in Windows 95, go to Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Startup.  Select the appropriate files and drag them to the Recycle Bin (Don't worry these are only shortcuts, not actual  programs, so its ok to trash them.)

In Windows 98, go to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information.  Next, select Tools menu and choose System Configuration Utility.  Click the Startup tab and select the programs you want to remove from the System Tray.

Windows Me (no info available)  (Sorry I use Windows 98)

Tip:  By using the Ctrl Alt Del Keys you will see a menu popup.  By selecting End Task for each program running.  Some program take time to close.  To free up all you processor speed the only programs that have to be running  is Explorer and systray.  I also would recommend that you not disable your Anti-Virus software.  The Programs will reset to original setting when you restart your computer.
