Microsoft and other users

Microsoft products have been coming under fire for over 6 years now. And now computer hackers are attacking your word processing programs. Computer users beware. A few years ago a new virus come onto the scene. Once, you could safely assume that viruses were only transmitted via program files. And that you could not catch a virus from a word processing document. But I'm sorry to say this is no longer true. Most modern word processing and spreadsheet programs (Including Word, WordPerfect, WordPro, Excel, and Lotus 1-2-3) have a feature called autorun macros to document files. These macros then automatically run whenever the document is opened. Unfortunately, hackers have figured out how to exploit this seemingly innocent feature to infect document files with viruses. So catching a virus from a document is now possible. The best protection against this new virus threat is to make sure you have the most recent version of a good antivirus program like McAfees VirusScan. You can also catch viruses on websites now. With what is called a Jscript Virus. More on this later. Also under attack is E-mail, which is the most common way to catch a virus. Most of attacks seem to be focusing on Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. Bill Gates has seen the light. No Bill has not died and went to heaven. Bill Gates has boldly SHUT DOWN ALL software development this month (February). And he has asked his 7,000 programmers to go under security and privacy training. He has told them not to write a line of code until they have thought out the security issues. Microsoft has had its problems with security and privacy issues for the last 6 years. And with this year starting of like last years frightening increase in the number of computer software attacks. With hackers using viruses and worm programs like CODE RED,
